Multi-factor authentication (MFA) and Two-factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication, including Two-factor Authentication and sometimes referred to as MFA, 2FA and 2-Step Verification, is a method for verifying a user's identity by using more than simply a password.

Fact is, the password is incredibly outdated. Many people still use weak passwords, even though they’re frequently warned to make them as complex as possible. But even a strong password can be stolen and if your password is stolen, you’ll never know until it’s too late.

There are techniques we can use to force passwords to be complex, or to require them to be changed frequently, but there’s actually a better solution: two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication is a type of security that requires something you know, like a password, and something you have like a mobile phone or key fob.

In this Quick Bytes video, I explain what Two-Factor Authentication is and how Advantage Technology can deploy it for to help secure your organization.
