Advantage Technology began with Richard Wilbur III providing IT consulting from a spare bedroom in early 2000. After working for several consumer-driven IT businesses directly out of college, he saw an opportunity to provide groundbreaking, enterprise-quality IT solutions to the business community. He quickly hired staff and moved to a small office complex in downtown Charleston, WV. It wasn’t long before that facility was too small and Advantage Technology moved to 814 Quarrier street where it remained for over a decade.
On January 27th Advantage Technology joined with the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce and local leaders to celebrate the opening of our new office at 1509 Johnson Avenue in Bridgeport. Located in the growing central West Virginia region, this new office helps us quickly address customer needs all over West Virginia. While we had a previous office in the area, this new facility offers more space and quicker deployment to our customers.
It was a great time with an Open House following the ribbon cutting. We all enjoyed a little lunch and showcased the location.
On August 26th, the Charleston Area Alliance held their Business After Hours at Baer Place, 950 Kanawha Blvd E! It was an unprecedented joint event with Advantage Technology and the Charleston Gazette-Mail hosting.
Everyone enjoyed food and drinks catered by Nosh, along with live music by Dale Harper and the Highlanders. Quantum Sports’ tents and our deck provided plenty of outdoor space for all attendees. Guests took tours of both Advantage Technology and Charleston Gazette-Mail, while the Charleston Gazette-Mail provided free parking in their McFarland St garage.
At a recent meeting of the West Virginia Coding Club, Advantage Technology's President and CEO, Richard Wilbur III, was honored to be the guest speaker. He described how he started Advantage Technology from a spare bedroom and grew it into West Virginia's largest IT service companies. And he praised Advantage Technology's own software development department.
