It has been a year of change here at Advantage Technology. So, let’s take a look at the biggest stories with this year-end wrap up and then we’ll look to what technological wonders 2017 year has in store.
The New Building
The big highlight of 2016 was moving into our new building, at 950 Kanawha Blvd. E., which had been totally renovated from the ground up to take into account the demands of a fast moving, high energy tech company like Advantage Technology. The new headquarters, with our state of the art data center, conference rooms and open office layout, has vastly increased our productivity. With this improved physical, infrastructure, we are able to work at maximum efficiency to deliver cutting-edge and affordable services for your business.
The Epic Server Move of 2016
As part of the our move to the new building, we completely shut down the Advantage Technology data center for the first time in who knows how long, and moved it across town to 950 Kanawha Blvd E. We couldn’t have picked a worse day if we tried. It was cold and pouring the rain, but it had to be done.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The only thing more exciting than the move itself was the ribbon cutting! In September, this incredible event brought together the Kanawha County Commissioner, the president of the Charleston Area Alliance, and even the Secretary of State to help us start our new journey as we stretch into the larger South Atlantic and Mid-Atlantic regions and beyond. This momentous day was one for the books!
Cody Clay
Here at Advantage Technology, we take great pride in our team and we stand by the fact that Our Advantage is Our People. We saw the potential in Cody Clay, hiring him right out of college to join our software development team. Today, he is an accomplished software developer that works hard to create client-facing web applications, develop computer automation systems and more. But accomplishments aren’t new to Clay; he was awarded the Iron Mountaineer Award for his outstanding fullback and tight end performance on the WVU football field.
Our Literal Office Picnic
Due to some rainy weather this summer, we didn’t want to risk our company picnic being ruined, so we tried something new. We literally had an office picnic in the office! Which works out great, by the way, because our new headquarters at 950 Kanawha Blvd E is amazing! On top of the seating, the kitchen is fully decked out with a stove, two refrigerators, two microwaves and two dishwashers. We even have a deck with picnic tables and a brand new grill! Yeah, we’ve got it pretty good at Advantage Technology. But the truth is, it’s the people that came to the picnic that really makes going to work so great. It’s more than just a place to go to get a paycheck.
Bowling Night
One thing we are always thankful for is the fact that our crew is not only coworkers, but also great friends. We all get along very well and enjoy each other’s company, so every once in a while, we like to get together and have some fun. In October, we met at Venture Lanes and bowled until we couldn’t bowl anymore (mainly because they kicked us out because it was closing). There is nothing more important to Advantage Technology than our people.
What’s In Store for 2017
A lot has happened here in 2016 and we are excited to see what the New Year has coming our way. With plans for expansion and growth, we are eager to offer our services to people and companies near and far through our expertise. We are grateful for our customers, partner and community and we wish you the best for 2017.
